We Are All Artists

January 10, 2013 — 4 Comments

Some of you may have never thought about the possibility of creating art. The thought of having to create something scares the pants off of you. You’re not a creative type; you’re a realist. It’s just downright impossible for you to think outside the box.

I can’t help but disagree with you. I believe that everyone is an artist; they just have to discover their passion.

If you’ve ever retold a story about something that happened to you, guess what? You caught a glimpse of being an artist. If you’ve ever cooked a meal, guess what? You created a meal for someone you awesome artist. If you’ve ever sketched out a design or blueprint for something you are decorating or building…TA-DA! Artist.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

We are all artists; some are just more advanced in their journeys than others (TWEET THAT).

This thinking excites me because it’s common ground for us. We can connect over that. We can come together as one and create something that matters. When we learn something from our art, we can reach out and help one another in our journeys. That’s why I’m starting this new project of mine. I’m working to put together a plan of action for those of you wanting to start out on the path of becoming a writer.

I mentioned this project in my post about expectations for 2013, and I have had some time to work on the content and flow. The course is called “The Write Idea.” It will be four weeks of getting you pumped up and ready to roll on your writing aspirations. (And no, one of the lessons is not about how to use big words in place of others…something to think about for the future I guess!)

Are you ready to take action on your dream?

Jon Acuff says that action is better than intention, so I encourage to think about taking this class as the first step in the right direction. I’m not going to turn you into a New York Times bestseller in 4 weeks, but I can give you some basic knowledge about what being a writer looks like, feels like, and what it entails.

I had to figure this stuff out on my own, but I want to make it easier for you to fall in love with writing.

If you are even remotely interested, then please leave a comment below that says “SEND MORE INFO,” and I’ll take care of the rest. THAT DOES NOT SIGN YOU UP FOR THE CLASS. Just know that I will contact you in a few days with some more information about the course.

I’m really excited about helping you with your dream. Can’t wait to talk with you! The journey begins February 1.

Comment below to receive more information about the class. (The website won’t go live until next week, but I’ll give you some insider info anyway.)

Tessa – I would love to hear more about your class. I’m looking froward to learning whatever I can. I’m ~ 50% done with my first version of my novel. I’m having so much fun but it is also alot of work. I didn’t realize how emotionally envolved I would get. My book is an action adventure and I have started to notice that every time I create a character that I really like they end up turning evil and getting killed off. Before the holiday’s I was feeling a little down and I realized it was becasue I had killed off all my good characteres. There was no one left that I wanted to write about. But never fear – it’s fiction right? So I just went back and brought a few of them back to life. Sort of like how they do in Soap Opras. Wait a minute – Oh No – I’m writing a Soap Opra!!! AHHHH! Help!

Thanks Laura. Just remember that you are the only one you have to please with your novel. Anything can happen!

Tessa, I discovered your site from a comment you left on Joe Lalonde site. You have some great stuff. I will spend some more time exploring your site. I liked this post. I believe I am creating art by writing material to help encourage, equip and empower people to realize and live their vision.
